A Message From Our Board Chair
I am so proud to announce that Working Wardrobes has received a coveted grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation to support IT Training for 70 post-9/11 veterans through the Working Wardrobes VetNet program. This grant is so critically important to helping our clients receive the technology training they need to realize the Power of a Paycheck.
The background to the establishment of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is unfortunate, but the impact the Foundation has made in the lives of veterans across the U.S. is paramount.
In 2006, as a reporter for ABC’s World News Tonight, Bob was seriously injured by a roadside bomb that struck his vehicle in Iraq. He sustained a life-threatening traumatic brain injury and spent 36 days in a medically-induced coma.
After his remarkable recovery, he created the Bob Woodruff Foundation (www.bobwoodrufffoundation.org) to ensure that our nation’s impacted veterans, service members, and their families have access to the highest level of support and resources they deserve.
Working Wardrobes is the only nonprofit in Orange County to have received the grant which speaks volumes to our commitment of helping veterans achieve success after service.
We established our VetNet program in 2012 as a safety net for veterans to meet their immediate and ongoing needs, including transition training, workforce readiness preparation, job training, and job placement and retention services. Since its inception, VetNet has served over 2,000 veterans!
Thank you to the Bob Woodruff Foundation team for their generosity in helping our veteran clients. Your support means so much.
