August 2017: Roaring into August Issue
In June, when we launched our Curves Work campaign with Ashley Nell Tipton, plus size fashion designer and winner of Project Runway, we were driven by our clients’ need for plus size clothing – and that need is great. Over 60% of our clients are plus size yet the majority of clothing donations we receive aren’t.
We knew there was also a fundamental need for plus size clothing across millions of consumers throughout the U.S., but the statistics did surprise us.
When it comes to female consumers in particular, roughly 67% across the nation are now plus size, with the average American woman wearing between a size 16 and a size 18. Even still, the plus size market remains largely underserved at just 17% of the U.S. women’s apparel market overall.
